Meet the owners

Jeroen & Marleen

Two careers in the Netherlands, one bold move to Italy — and a life that keeps reinventing itself.

Life changes

Before moving to Italy, we lived in Amsterdam. Jeroen ran his own successful company in recruitment outsourcing, while Marleen built a 20-year international career in financial services.

Driven by the feeling that life should hold more than TL lights and trying new restaurants, and that work could happen from anywhere, we decided to emigrate and start our own holiday accommodation, combined with some online activities.

Three years after opening our doors, a series of strong earthquakes destroyed our home: the next life change. We moved into one of our own apartments while waiting years for reconstruction. Jeroen started his furniture workshop, and Marleen obtained a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture and design at Hertfordshire University. We also became partners in Paul Meccanico, a local maker of handmade bags and fashion accessories with a store in nearby Sarnano.

Of many trades

With the reopening of our fully renovated agriturismo in 2022, we became people of many trades. Besides running our small-scale holiday accommodation, we grow Paulownia trees for our own wood production and tend olive trees, we design and make furniture and entire interior spaces, build websites, and remain partners in Paul Meccanico.
